Visiting our valleys for the autumn change of seasons is one of the most magical and breathtaking experiences you can have. Often, the tree leaves will be on the change and the colours will stand out against the snow on the mountain tops.
In this section, you will find up to date information on the current state of the colour change and some suggestions on the best places to go to see the most amazing sites. But these are just recommendations, we encourage your to travel around the both the Alpine and Keiwa valleys for the best expereince.

We expect the autumn transition to last until well after the end of the festival period.

Some Viewing Suggestions
Here are some suggestions on the best places to go to see the most amazing sites. But these are just recommendations, we encourage you to travel around the both the Alpine and Keiwa valleys for some amazing hidden experiences.
Each map has a directions icon to make navigating much easier.
WARNING
Please ensure you park safely and stand clear of any roadways. Some of these locations are in 100kmh zones.
Also, please do not enter private property without permission. Most rural farmland is governed by strict biosecurity controls that is paramount to their business.
Great Alpine Road, Mytleford
5 Mins east of Pepo Farms (25 mins from Bright)
This stretch of the Great Alpine Road, just as the 60kph zones moves to 80, is the first row of trees that gives you the slightest hint on what’s to come.
Great Alpine Road, Porepunkah
8 mins from Bright
This stretch of the Great Alpine Road offers a long run of ever-changing trees with the magnificent Mount Buffalo as the backdrop.

Porepunkah
5 Mins from Bright
The entire Porepunkah township offers excellent views, with the main street offering some of the best views in this list. With Mount Buffalo as a backdrop, an absolute beauty of a photo awaits.
Back Porepunkah Road
3 Mins from Bright
Taking in the picturesque golf club, this row of trees creates a boulevard of colour change. Mount Buffalo is still in the distance but the rows of trees makes this a special place.
Don’t forget to take a look at our brand new Colour Bridge, near Porepunkah.

Bright
The centre of our festival. Brights CBD has a range of changing Ireland Street and the riverfront precinct, from Howitt Park through to the Rotary Waterslide.
During your walks, drop into our wide arrange of shops, retail and hospitality venues. We also have an excellent movie theatre.
Great Alpine Road, Bright (East)
As you travel east out of Bright, you will pass through the canopy of colour that makes up Delany Ave, leading back onto the Great Alpine Road to Harrietville.
Wandiligong
5 Mins from Bright
Now out into Wandi (Wandiligong)! A beautiful hidden valley that hides some of Victorias best apple produce. Hidden here are some amazing views and you are encouraged to take the side roads and explore the entire area.
Harrietville
20 Mins from Bright
On the way to Mount Hotham, Harrietville must be one of the most idyllic townships in Victoria. The town boasts a corridor of colour, well worth the drive.
After some of our best river products or a special fishing experience, stop in at the Stony Creek Fish Farm.
